About Me
Ever since I was a kid, fashion has been my passion. I still remember putting together outfits in middle school and being the kid with the wackiest style. I wore everything from plaid tights to tutus to big flower clips in my hair (sometimes all at once). In high school I took full advantage of all the sewing and merchandising classes offered and by junior year I knew this was what I wanted to do. Once my trajectory was set, I dedicated myself to learning as much as possible and started college in high school. I also worked several fashion jobs throughout my education.
This passion carried me through my education at Kansas State University and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Here there were more resources available to me than I ever could have imagined as a kid. I studied patterning (flat, draping, and Opitex), illustration, merchandising, and the environmental/social impacts. And it was here that led to my latest passion - sustainability.
My eyes were opened to how detrimental the fashion industry is on the environment and the people who work further back on the supply chain. I have adjusted my lifestyle to fit this new value. My personal sewing projects are created from either secondhand fabric (my favorite) or natural fabrics. I am slowly integrating a zero waste philosophy into my everyday life.
So, now, working in the industry, these passions remain with me. There's certainly plenty for me to learn and discover and I remain dedicated to where fashion, creativity, and sustainability meet.
